High End Kitchen Design and Remodelling
Just as the saying goes “the devil is in the details”, for prestige renovations, luxury
is in the details. Whether you’re an aspiring chef, foodie vlogger or merely want to extend your home’s equity value to its maximum, a high-end kitchen renovation is certainly more complicated, but also more rewarding. Such an undertaking requires excellent planning, an eye for detail (our specialty at Edge Kitchens!), and patience to finish every last detail with finesse. Here are the most important details we focus on when taking on larger budget remodels:
1. Your Cabinetry Makes the Biggest Impression
As in any kitchen renovation, one of the first things people start thinking about selecting is their colour palate. Most door styles are available in a variety of colours, but the materials they’re made from and their composition becomes important when creating a luxurious space.Ceiling height cabinets, glass door or open cabinetry and shelving, all wood cabinets, customized trim and hidden appliances are all things to consider.
2. A Luxury Kitchen Means Counters are a Focal Point
There are a number of surfaces to choose from when it comes to counters, but in a high-end remodel we tend to lean into natural stone and unique patterns.Marble, Quartz and Granite are the definite go-to’s here, but in more modern designs, metal counters are also increasing in popularity and add a unique design feature.Stainless Steel, Copper and Pewter are among the more popular choices and are a very refined design choice in the right space – they’re also nonporous and antibacterial making them easy to clean.
Having a plan for your electrical is always part of the process; in a high-end renovation even more so as there may be certain features you want to create with light or highlight with directional lighting. High-end kitchen light sources tend to include general lighting from a ceiling fixture or recessed pot lights, a light source specifically for the kitchen island, under cabinet lighting, and lit shelves or glass cabinets.Additionally, lighting can be added above your kick plate and even under the counter.
4. A Customized Pantry
Organization is usually one of the top goals all clients have when choosing to renovate.Taking that goal to the next level in order to maximize your space and make day-to-day life easier, customizing your pantry according to your specific needs is one of the best ways to go, all while adding additional value to the space.Drawer and cabinet organizers, customized spice racks, built-in wine fridges and even customized built-ins for small appliances all allow for maximum organization and a streamlined look that doesn’t crowd your counter.
5. Smart Appliances
Technology has come a long way and so have appliances.Microwaves that sync with Alexa, or a refridgerator that tracks its contents, or ovens that can be temperature controlled via Bluetooth are all wonderful additions that will also ease your workload.
6. Less is More
In terms of popular design trends, a high-end kitchen renovation is typically minimalist.Allowing the luxurious surfaces and palate of your choosing, along with our expert design assistance, when each element is carefully chosen and fits perfectly into the space’s layout, the space will end up speaking for itself as opposed to needing additional décor ideas to pull it all together.
